Rainfall Erosion Damage of Residual Soil Slope in Intermittently Frozen Area Based on Discrete Element Method

چکیده

This study developed a discrete element simulation model based on the 2D particle flow code (PFC ), of which mesoscopic parameters were calibrated by indoor experiments, to investigate rainfall erosion damage residual soil slope in intermittently frozen area. It is be noted that runoff scouring action was simulated according equivalent method, particles given initial velocity, and water absorption considered increasing unit weight. The results indicated only caused superficial with main region at foot, regardless FT effect. A splitting phenomenon observed lower part steeper under Moreover, effect, gentler tended incur spalling rather than phenomenon, where slid along structural plane strong anti-scouring ability. Besides, maintained higher stability shorter time. Finally, velocity increased large extent.

Rock Slope Stability Analysis Using Discrete Element Method

Rock slope stability depends very much on the strength features of the rock and the geometrical and strength characteristics of the discontinuities (e.g., roughness, wall strength and persistence). Since a rock mass is not a continuum, its behavior is dominated by such discontinuities as faults, joints and bedding planes. Also, Rock slope instability is a major hazard for human activities and o...

soil erosion under simulated rainfall in loess lands with emphasis on land-use, slope and aspect

the runoff generation and soil erosion in the kechik watershed, golestan province, was assessed, using a designed and constructed portable rainfall simulator. treatments were applied on different land-uses, slopes and aspects as the most influential factors. results showed that land-use significantly affected runoff generation (13.35 l, 6.9 l, and 4.12 l, respectively for agriculture, forest an...

Hysteretic sediment fluxes in rainfall-driven soil erosion

Hysteresis patterns of different sediment particle sizes were studied via a detailed laboratory study and modelling. Seven continuous rainfall events with stepwisevarying rainfall intensities (15, 30, 45, 60, 45, 30 and 15 mmh-1, each 20 min duration) were conducted using a 5-m× 2-m erosion flume. Flow rates and sediment concentration data were measured using flume discharge samples, and interp...
